A Neurodevelopmental Approach to Caring for Kids with Vulnerable Nervous Systems
Sponsoring Organization: Family Forward MO- Therapeutic Preschool
Date: December 8th & 9th, 2022
Time: 9am to 4pm
Location: St. Louis, Missouri
Description: Children who have experienced complex developmental trauma often present with unusual behaviors that leave caregivers feeling overwhelmed and confused. This workshop will help caregivers feel comfortable leaning into nervous system dysregulation, reframing misbehavior as opportunities to soothe the limbic system through “bottom up” bottom-up play-based experiences, including movement and sensory play.
This innovative training will guide the attendees through the most current neuroscience research (including Bruce Perry, MD, Stephen Porges, MD, and Daniel Siegel, MD) and demonstrate how to put theory into practical interventions. Attendees will learn a playful paradigm that will decode even the most confusing behaviors in children. Reframing challenging behaviors as behavior that always makes sense invites caregivers to connect and co-regulate with the struggling child, ultimately leading to nervous system healing and decreasing challenging behaviors.
This training will include didactic and experiential learning; participants should dress comfortably and be prepared to move and play. Attendees will leave this training with practical tools, strategies and applications to strengthen the student’s nervous system, ultimately decreasing challenging behavior and increasing relational behavior.
Registration Information: This is a private training for Family Forward MO Therapeutic Preschool staff. If you are interested in scheduling a similar training for your organization, contact Robyn’s team at hello@robyngobbel.com
