Description:

Keynote: Trauma & Toxic Stress on the Developing Brain
“The experiences of the first two months of life have a disproportionately important impact on long-term health and development.” Dr. Bruce Perry. Trauma and toxic stress have a profound impact on the developing infant’s regulatory circuits and foundational framework for relationships.  This keynote address will explore the types of experiences that infants may experience as trauma and toxic stress as well as the impact those experiences have on the infant’s stress response system, regulatory circuits, attachment, sense of felt safety.
Workshop: Healing the Brain with Attunement & Co-Regulation
If the developing brain can be hurt in relationship, it can also be healed in relationship. Parents who struggle to provide attuned and safe care for their infants need exactly what their infant’s need- connection, safety, and co-regulation.  This workshop will teach participants how to help parents understand their infant’s cues and offering the needed soothing.
