Find their Voice: Strategies for Manipulation, Shut-Down, and Verbal Aggression

Sponsoring Organization: Ottawa County Community Mental Health & Bethany Christian Services

Date: Oct. 16 2024

Time: 6-8pm eastern

Location: virtual

Description: Manipulation, verbal aggression, and shutting-down are all protection-behaviors with one big thing in common: the person is struggling to use accurate words that truly reflect their needs in that moment. In this training, we will explore ways to scaffold our kids’ ability to use words to reflect their accurate needs and feelings. This will decrease their need to to use protective behaviors like manipulation, verbal aggression, or shutting down and saying nothing. We aren’t going to tell them to “use their words” but with practice, we can make attempts to hear what they are really trying to say and respond to THAT.

Registration Information: This is a private training for Ottawa County and Bethany Christian Services clients.  If you are interested in scheduling a similar training for your organization, contact Robyn’s team at hello@robyngobbel.com
